  • My prior experiences with technology are limited to social media and what I have used for class/projects, like powerpoint and word/google docs. 
  • I hope to learn how to use technology to influence my teaching in the future, to make me a better teacher. 
  • Today I learned that I am mostly balanced in all of the dimensions. I learned that I am a bit more of a visual learner, which means color coding and textbooks should help me with college classes. I learned that I need to relate everything to the real world more to get a better understanding with what I am doing.

    Good post! You are not alone- many students' tech experiences are limited to personal use (like social media) and requirements for classes and projects. The assignments in this course will give you some hands-on experience with more software/hardware.

     As a student, I have used MS word quite a bit. I used MS word for essays, reports, and my resume when applying for colleges. I would also use MS word when I had to do projects, because I would use it to type information and make everything look neater. In school, my teachers would us MS word to write the syllabus, to write assignments, and to show us the agendas for the day.       I went to an art school, and took a film business class my junior year, so I learned A LOT about copyright and fair use. In an educational environment, I've used it seen it used a lot, because of the fact that we are allowed to use copyrighted materials for educational purposes, as long as they are used for the same purpose they were created for.      I would like to use interactive websites for my classrooms, like youtube to show videos that relate to what we are learning- like ACBs and counting. I would also like to use blogging, but less for students, and more for parents, so they always know what we are doing in class and what is happening in schools. However, I probably wont use twitter, diigo, or wiki in my classrooms, though I may use them personally to help with lessons. I think these technologies would be too advanced and won't help the young age I want to teach. If I taught older students, I would use all of them to help the students and give us a place to interact.      Similar to the websites suggested for the journal, there is a website called Project Gutenberg. The website has free options to read a ton of books online, or to download them on kindles or ipads.
